Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed a new Lamborghini to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary in 2013. A Lamborghini Hypercar? It’s fifty years since Lamborghini first started to build cars, and 2013 sees the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Grand Tour when Lamborghinis from around the world will congregate in Sant’Agata to drive 1200km of Italy’s roads in what is expected to be the biggest gathering of Lamborghinis ever (as long as enough owners are prepared to part with €5500 to take part).
The Jaguar E-Type Growler
As you can’t have failed to notice, 2011 is the Jaguar E-Type’s 50th anniversary and Jaguar are busy making sure everyone knows it. From the original Geneva E-Type show car at this year’s Geneva Motor Show on through being an iconic part of this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the E-Type will be everywhere. Which may have something to do with the inspiration – and timing - behind Swedish firm Visualtech’s plans to build an E-Type for the 21st century.
The Tesla Model S is the only successful electric car
The experiment of getting the car buying public to believe an electric car is a sensible alternative to an ICE car isn’t an unmitigated failure – but it’s close. And now Investment Bank Morgan Stanley has come out and stated the obvious: Apart from the success of Tesla, electric cars are a failure, falling far short of sales predictions and likely to see no real growth in the coming years. Morgan Stanley declare that we will still all be driving ICE cars for the foreseeable future, and despite predictions that as many as one in ten cars will be BEVs by 2020 the reality is likely to be less than one in a hundred.
